The Men Who Won’t Grow Up

Dibs! I call dibs! I love a man who knows his way around a computer and his Mom’s basement.

More men live with their parents than women, and at higher and higher rates as it becomes more socially acceptable. The Pew Research Center that 40% of 18 to 31-year-old guys (The Millennial Generation) lived with their parents in 2012, compared to 32 percent of women.

The rise of Millennials living at home is attributed to declining employment, rising college enrollment (they were counted as living at home if they were in a college dorm), and declining marriage. Men tend to get married later than women and some experts say that parents take it easier on sons living at home than daughters. The guys are not as expected to do chores and such.Thank you, parents, for further screwing over us single girls.

“Oh Jimmy is just delightful. He doesn’t work, doesn’t have a degree, is 27 and lives in the basement. And we never expect him to help cook or clean!”

Who doesn’t love a man who was raised to be financially dependent on others?

  1. Awww, thank you! It’s a great way to indulge my fascination with science without having to put on a lab coat…or adhere to any professional standards whatsoever. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. My boyfriend’s mother coddled him like crazy. But when he moved in with me this year (we’re 27) he was desperate to do his own laundry and chores so he could feel like a grown man!

    So it CAN work out!
