The stereotype of the sexually insatiable male one we see all the time in popular media. However, is it true? A psych study from 1997 asked:
The researchers found that while the stereotype was true in some cases, it was based on traumatic socialization.
“…Men’s tendency toward non-relational sexuality—the tendency to experience sex primarily as lust without any requirements for relational intimacy or emotional attachment is not natural, not genetic, and not a product of evolution. Rather, it is closely linked to the traumatic socialization of boys, in which displays of emotion are discouraged and emotional intimacy is equated with the loss of autonomy”.
